Professional Provider Seminars

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) and CareFirst BlueChoice, Inc. (CareFirst BlueChoice) offer half-day seminars and half-hour webinars designed to familiarize professional providers and office staff with CareFirst policy and provider oriented procedures. Our seminars and webinars are designed to appeal to the needs of our versatile provider community. A brief description and its identification code to assist in the selection of the appropriate educational session specific to your needs and requests are listed below:
  • (B&U) - Basics & Updates - this new seminar has a fresh new look and is designed to introduce to professional providers CareFirst's full portfolio of products, claims submission procedures, coordination of benefits, administrative policies, quality improvement, and the latest information on BlueCard. The seminar will end with CareFirst updates and changes making this seminar an excellent "new provider staff" or "provider refresher" tool.
  • PT/OT/ST/Chiro - this seminar is designed to assist and update PT/OT/ST/Chiro providers in CareFirst procedure and policy..
  • Sub/Mtl - Prof - this seminar is designed to update professional mental health and substance abuse providers in CareFirst procedure and policy.
  • OB/Gyn - Specialty Seminar - designed to update professional providers in specific OB/GYN CareFirst updates and changes.
  • Webinars - A Web Based Training - designed to present CareFirst policies and procedures to professional and institutional providers, within the comforts of their own office workspace. These seminars will be one half hour long, but participants should allow for log on and instruction time. After enrolling, you will receive instructions 1 day prior to the presentation date via email. There are several webinar types being offered:
    • Blue Choice - BlueChoice policies and a review of referrals and authorizations.
    • MPOS - Maryland Point of Service - explanation of product and review of referrals and authorizations.
    • CareFirst Direct - Perform eligibility and benefits for local and out-of-area members.
    • Professional Specialty: PT/OT/ST/Chiro, OB/GYN, Anesthesia and Sub/Mtl Health - information specific to these specialties.
    • CDH - Consumer Directed Healthcare. - product information.
    • (NEW) - HealthyBlue - overview of our newest product.
Webinars are CareFirst Quality Rewards qualitfied web-based office staff training modules.
